Finding the time

After 35 years working 5 days a week, I decided that I really didn't want to work any more, so took the plunge and retired. I think I've found the recipe for a happy life, if not a wealthy one… I'm Finding the Time – are you?

What’s it all about?

November 2017 – How quickly a year goes

It’s been a year since I started my blog. My Fridays off lasted 6 months, til I changed jobs and went back to working full time. This meant that I didn’t have the time or energy for my KimTime trips, which was a shame because I enjoyed the challenge!

But now it’s all change again!

I decided that I really didn’t want to work any more, so took the plunge and retired. I’m keeping a bit busy doing some freelance writing (and getting paid a little for it!) and am about to start a part time role, hours to suit, driving a non-emergency ambulance in the local area.

Along with half a day a week volunteering for Marie Curie, I think I’ve found the recipe for a happy life, if not a wealthy one…

I’m hoping to carry on Finding the Time, so watch this space!

November 2016 – Well hello!

Welcome to my first attempt at a blog.

I am using my newly acquired day off on a Friday for ‘Kim time’. I am determined not to waste the time shopping or doing housework – that’s what weekends are for! In the warmer weather, I’d like to play golf, but I seize up in the cold which makes my golf skills non-existent. So, as we are currently sliding into winter, golf is a non-starter.

Once I know whether I will be working 4 days a week on a more permanent basis, I will look for some voluntary work. But in the meanwhile, I hope you enjoy my weekly stories of mini-adventures for the over 50’s!

In my head I have a small list of places to go and things to see. All are within a 50-mile radius of home, are cheap, will help me keep fit and can be reached quite easily by train or car.

As blogs are added, you will be able to filter by month on the calendar to see what’s available, then click to select.

In the meanwhile, my first blog is about is where it all started; my trip to College Green, Bristol Cathedral, to see the final day of the Remembrance installation 19240 Shrouds of the Somme.

I’d be really pleased to hear your comments, and suggestions about what to see and where to go next.
